Michelle Orpe goes to Purple Lounge

By Arthur Crowson

Professional poker player and TV presenter Michelle Orpe has found a new home at Purple Lounge.

Orpe will be the face of the luxury online poker room and casino as the room continues to see the number of women interested in poker growing rapidly.

"From our launch just two years ago Purple Lounge has always been home to a large community of women players and it's something we're extremely proud of," explained Purple Lounge marketing director Julia Wild. "It's natural that we'd sponsor a female player and we're expecting great things from Michelle Orpe; she's a true professional and we're lucky to have lured her to the Purple Lounge."

Orpe is perhaps best known for her role as a presenter on the popular U.K. Internet poker show Poker Night Live. Orpe has also worked in news capacities for numerous poker media outlets, in addition to working as a celebrity dealer.

Recently Orpe has gotten serious about playing in the game and has already taken in part in several events of the European Poker Tour.

In the past Purple Lounge has offered numerous opportunities to its female community in the form of women-only events and the popular "Battle of the Sexes," which is a series of tournaments that take place both live and online.

Purple Lounge launched in 2005 and prides itself on offering an alternative experience to many online poker rooms. Purple Lounge attempts to offer sophisticated online gaming with a luxurious feel that reflects the traditionally glamorous Las Vegas atmosphere.

Orpe's new title will be VIP Manager and she will work to maintain relations with existing VIP Purple Lounge players as well as recruiting new VIP players.
